Second Era ‘why was golf invented’ - : 1670 – 1930: After emancipation and the social upheaval of the 1800’s golf popularity picked up pace and the game was refined, still not available to commoners many still took it upon themselves to learn the game as caddies. The golf courses increased in size and North America especially the USA got more involved in golf quickly producing champions like those from Scotland and Britain.
